taking for granted...

Do you ever sit back and take stock of things, or get reminded by someone and realise that there is SO SO much that we take for granted?

This has happened to me over the last week, actually prompted by the sermon at church on sunday (even though it was pretty unrelated!). There are so many things that I have been taking for granted, having a house, a baby, a wonderful husband and loving family. But the main thing that I realsised was that I totally have been taking for granted God's amazing goodness to us. Dont get me wrong, I have been constantly aware and thankful for all the ways he has been working, but I havn't been acting on that thankfullness. And this is something that has to change.

Christianity is not a passive faith, it is dynamic, and although faith and love of God doesn't require us to do anything as such - if it is a real faith then it COMPELLS us to action. Thats the key, if our faith is real it causes a stirring in us that compells us to act. It gives us a desire to hear and learn more about God, to find out more about His character, about His will and His love for His creation.

So it is not something to take for granted, as I have been reminded of once again. And my thankfullness for all things good is continuing even in the midst of the tired haze of today!

Ug Boots and 60 minute makeover!

So things have been a bit busy recently.... but I finally have a spare few minutes to spend on the net and thought I would blog for the first time in ages!

Today has been good so far. I got a record sleep of 7 hours last night! Incredible - then Rebekah slept for a further 4 hours which meant I could get all my jobs done!
Then I walked slowly into town (slowly due to pelvic problems from delivery) and got some Ug Boots as my others had fallen apart. Toasty Toes for me this winter ;)

Then I have done more jobs, given my baby a leg and foot massage (have been doing a course in it) and am now gearing up for a cup of tea and an hour of 60 minute make over! What a fab show! Its a joy that Rebekah is calm today - the last few days have been a tad trying to say the least. But the massage has zonked her out and she is fast asleep.

Friends too far away...

I had a fone call last night from one of my closest friends.... and I realised how much I miss my friends from uni. Most of my best friends live in either Watford or further into London and Northern Ireland! I miss my lovely friends so much - and due to the hugeness of my bump and being so ucomfortable during pregnancy I havnt been able to travel to see anyone and have been reliant on ppl coming here. But thanks to the wonders of Facebook, keeping in touch has never been easier!

We are hoping to get across to N Ireland before Christmas if I ever get organised and get a passport for Rebekah- and then I have a friend visiting in 2 weeks which I cant wait for!!! And in the meantime Im going to stay at my folks for a few days and catch up with some lovely ladies who I've known since I was born!

All good stuff.

Rebekah Lucy!

well its nearly six weeks since my last post, and I can't belive how different things are now. Even 4 days before my due date i was insanely uncomfortable - and Rebekah eventually decided to make an appearance 10 days late! To say that I was desparate for some1 to intervene would be a major understatement! Everyone knew I was having a big baby coz my bump was HUGE and nearly off the measurement scale at the midwifes, but even I didnt count on just how big she would be!

As it happened labour started naturally but was soooo long. From beginning to end over 36hours. 17 of which I was in hospital for. It was a difficult time and I don't remember a great deal of what happened due to the effects of diamorphine and 3 cannisters of Entinox (fabulous stuff!) and drugs to start contractions off again! I was as high as a kite! Craig was a rock throughout and was fabulous... even holding me on a birth ball for the best part of 3 hours because I couldnt stay upright! (I dont remember much of that!) And apparently I came too at one point and had forgotton I was in hospital and forgotton I was having a baby!

Eventually Rebekah Lucy came into the world weighing a whopping 10lbs 8 ozs! She is an absolute angel - and I cant believe she is ours. Its such a miracle and I can sit looking at her for hours. Motherhood is hard work of course but there is so much to marvel at, and sooo much to look forward too.

Long time no blog

It has been a while since I last did a post... mainly due to my lack of any activity other than sleeping and antenatal appointments!

Things have got very uncomfortable pregnancy wise over the last 2 weeks. Only 5 days left till my due date... and believe me when I say that Im praying for the arrival of the little one before that! Craig is hoping labour will start tomorrow... it would be perfect, just after a nice lie in! Fingers crossed!

My lovely folks have been to stay and have been waiting on me as I have NO energy what so ever so they have been doing the shopping, cooking, cleaning and generally keeping things afloat while I sit on the sofa unable to move!!!

So hopefully next time I blog the baby will be here! If not it'll be an even more fed up post than this one!!!

Suprise hobbies!!!

I've suprised myself over the last couple of days! I've taken up a hobby that I never thought in a million years that I would!

My mum has taught me to crochet!!! I've already done a little blanket for the babies moses basket and am on blanket no.2 which hopefully will be big enough to be cot size!!!

Its very theraputic to actually have something to do that takes little energy... and while I've been watching Alias dvd's (courtesy of JM!) I've needed a distraction of kinds as it gets abit tense at times!!!!

So there we go! Can't quite believe it!

How things work out...

I've been quite pensive over the last few days... about how things turn out in the end. Sometimes the most hopeless of situations come right after years of waiting and praying about it.

Its hard to write about specifics without going into lots of detail but there are 3 situations that have been really tough over the last few years, and within the last month all 3 have come right! Its amazing really and Im very thankful to say the least. All 3 situations are real blessings, 1 requires more difficulty in the short term but will be amazing in the long term.

Sorry that this post is so vague, but I just wanted to say that sometimes time, prayer and patience can seem so trying but even after years - these things can all work out in the most amazing ways.

Famous Sightings....

I was prompted to write this the other day when a good friend of mine texted me to tell me she was sat opposite Ruth Langsford (This Morning presenter and wife of Eammon Holmes) and then she happened to see her again the day oafter and nearly knocked over her son!!!

I get to thinking then... see when I was in london I never saw anyone even remotely famous. But since moving up here I bump into members of the hollyoaks cast on an almost regular basis!!!

Seen so far are James McKenna, who plays Jack Osbourne, but has also been in Touch of Frost amongst other things... who was jogging (the 3 times I saw him so he must like to keep fit!)

Nick Pickard who plays Tony Hutchinson... waiting at the station as I came home from work!

And Nathalie Emanuel .... who plays the lesser seen Sasha Valentine, but who has the most incredible hair!
So there you go what an exciting place I live!!! Hehe!

Shameful Addictions...

Im ashamed to say that I have become increasingly hooked on Big Brother this year.

I watched the first ever series and then bits of the others but this year I'm really into it!!!

Maybe its the twins who make me feel at home with their Stoke accent (that no1 else understands apparently!) or maybe its just that I have no life and have a need that BB fulfills (I would hope its the former of the 2)!

I thought Carol was cool at first, but I'm thinking there are some serious insecurities somewhere with her 'role' as cook and housekeeper being so fiercely important to her. And the comments made about Amy during nominations were pretty harsh by anyones standards. At least Carol wasn't 2 faced and didnt apologised.

Tracey, I like alot as she has remained herself for the entirety so far. Something I respect as I'm sure being in that house has the great potential of sending you loopy!
Anyways, I have owned up to my shameful addiction to reality (or lack of reality) TV. At least I have stopped watching Jeremy Kyle now... and now that Fern and Philip aren't doing This Morning the TV remains off during the day Im proud to say!!!

*eyes watering*

So I just got back from my 34 week check up with my midwife. And everything is fine and dandy, blood pressure is down (so this no work suits me!), no nasties in the errrm 'sample' and hte baby's heart rate is good and strong.

My heart did sink somewhat when it came to measuring time!

For those not so up on these things: the midwife will measure from the top of the *cough cough* pubic bone to the top of the uterus (that heads more and more north every week!) and that measurement in cms is (roughly) what the baby is in weeks! Incredible freak of nature isn't it!?
So I'm 34 weeks along, and the baby has a measurement of 36 weeks! Bearing in mind that I have another 6 weeks of baby growing to go!!! OUCH OUCH AND OUCH AGAIN!!! See why my heart sank and eyes started to water!?
Anyways enough of that - I find denial a wonderful realm to disappear into!
We had good news this week, my lovely husband has got himself another job - at a fantastic organisation doing what he is so gifted at and so enjoys doing. Great stuff!
Its sunny outside so I shall go and sit in the back and read for a while me thinks.

Morals learned from 'Friends' and baby showers!

I was watching friends last night and laughed at the bit when Ross is on sabbatical from work due to his "rage" and he gets bored really quickly and does loads of jobs in 1 morning then has nothing left to do... Joey comes to his rescue and teaches Ross the valuable lesson of spacing out tasks throughout the week! THIS IS MY LIFE NOW! Hahaha!

Its 1.30pm and I've accomplished quite alot (considering the new slow pace of life!). I've done washing and put other clean clothes away, been to Aldi, Iceland and the fab fruit and vege shop, had lunch and sorted out finances! This afternoon I can chill out and read before making dinner.

We had a good weekend visiting my folks and my inlaws. I love spending time with my mum and dad. Also my old church threw me a suprise baby shower which was so sweet of them. All the women came to my parents house and surprised me with loads and loads of gifts for the baby. There was piles of toiletries, clothes, nappies and chocolate for me and craig!!! Mum had baked lots of lovely things for everyone too. It was so lovely to see everyone and I felt very blessed and spoilt by everyone. Everything that had been on my list to get in terms of toiletries has been provided in abundance - incredible!

the sun is shining - the weather is sweeeeeet yeah!

So the sun is out... I have nothing to do and nowhere to be so I shall shortly be moving to the bliss of my garden chair, with my sunnies on and a good book. Jealous anyone!???

How Christian are you?

Mmmm I'm quite a heathen by some standards!!!
You are 69% Christian

You have access to heaven, but you might not meet the big guy or the son--if there is a heaven. But you're score is higher than the others before you and so go ahead, pat yourself on the back, you're not going to hell.

Too long to go...

This pregnancy thing is getting me down today - I so desperately want to meet the baby, find out if its a boy or girl, what he or she is like and all that sort of thing. And there is just tooo long to wait!!!

The other thing is I'm sick of not being comfortable. by 9pm I'm so uncomfortable I go and lie down and watch telly in bed. But then after going to sleep I wake up with intense pain down the edge of both legs! and it doesnt go away for the rest of the night. Ggggrrrrr! Apparently its a pregnancy thing and probably won't go away till after the baby is born. Ahh well.... it will all be worth it!

Moan over now - its just a little much sometimes when I'm so tired! Today I shall be doing some tidying and organising in the nursery. People have already got us so much - its lovely!!! The clothes are all washed and in the little drawers, and hopefully we'll out up some cute paintings I did soon. Hehehe!

Tractors and Farms and little white dogs....

So another new day needed another new post!

Today I have various tasks to complete... shopping, ironing, posting off presents for friends new babies, trying to sell a tractor, and writing to an accountant!

To understand the selling of a tractor you must first understand that my husband part owns a farm that is no longer a working farm... hence why there are spare bits of machinery to part with! The farm is beautiful and is perched on the edge of a beautifully picturesque valley. The view from there are stunning and I would never get tired of them! Oh and that is where my lovely little staffy dog lives! She really does have the life of Riley there... she gets walked down the fields everyday and gets her every need met by my in-laws who are around all day. Sounds great doesn't it!?

Right enough rambling. Time to plough my way through the list of jobs for today.

Blogging in earnest

I'm very aware that my blog has been abit of a non starter up until now. The egotistical side of me really has not been there in any form recently. Maybe its because of my descent into a boring way of life - with a huge baby bump life does become somewhat limiting!

So today brings a new start to dibleys blog. Its a sunny day and I am feeling energetic (psyhcologically not physically) so I thought lets start this thing properly and see how long it lasts!

The last few days we have had a new project : ECONOMISING! After 2 very expensive months - cars breaking down and boilers breaking down and needing replacing we are on an economy drive in a big way. No eating out. No eating in! (or so it feels!) Shopping at the bargain food shops and no luxery items! Doesnt sound much fun at all - but feels superisingly industrious.

We shall see what happens over the next few months - what with the expense of a baby's day to day care on the horizon in approximately 7 weeks! Aaaagrrggggh!

On that topic: the waking in the night in blind panic at the impending arrival is getting more frequent (along with the trips to the loo!) but is balanced by increasing excitement at meeting the little tot who has consumed my life in every way for the last 8 months. When they tell you about motherhood, they never express the reality of it starting the moment you concieve with your life changing forever from that moment on!

Right... the first proper blog entery must end as Im peckish and have to hang more washing out.

Bible Films

As a church we have started meeting up once a month and watching biblical films.
I have to admit that I never thought i'd be doing something like this... these films have been available in the shop for as long as I can remember but I'd made a HUGE assumption that they would be incredibly lame... as christian productions can be!

But confession time... Im really enjoying them! So far we have watched Esther, and the two parts of the story of Paul. Next installment will be David and I cant wait!

Happiness in the mundane

I never thought i'd find happiness in doing housework. I have always been quite driven, wanting to fulfill my calling to church leadership, which I still do, but I found happiness in the mundane.

Since moving to our own house, (I guess the pregnancy nesting instinct may have something to do with it), I have enjoyed housework! Very bizzarre. This morning I relished cleaning the bathroom carpet on my hands and knees with a scrubbing brush! and thouroughly enjoyed cleaning the kitchen - I mean its just wierd!

I've always been a bit compulsive with cleaning especially when I was ill, but that was for different reasons. Now it is just for the enjoyment of it!

I've seen 130 out of 306 films

SUPPOSEDLY if you've seen over 85 films, you have no life.(so thats where the time goes!) Mark the ones you've seen. There are 306 films on this list. Copy this list, go to your own facebook account, paste this as a note. Then, put x's next to the films you've seen, add them up, change the header adding your number, and click post at the bottom. Have fun.

So being pregnant has its major negative points... like the severe lack of mental capacity, the 4 months of 24/7 nausea and the throwing up etc... but the positives are FAB!

So Easter day my husband takes me to get a garden chair to put out in the yard, so that when i get huge and am off work I can relax as a true lady of leisure.

I have to say that it is THE most comfy thing ever! Sitting on there with my sunnies on in the sun makes me want to quit work like yesterday! Nothing is better. and I want to sit on it all day today but got to go to work :(

Oh talking about work, better go as am late1
